Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is currently chaired by Mr. Hassan BOUBRIK and comprises 12 substantive members. Directors are elected for a term of three years and may be re-elected at the expiration of the term. They shall continue in office until their successors are elected. Mr. Hassan Boubrik was recently appointed as Chairman of the newly formed Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Security (ACAPS) which oversees the Insurance Sector in Morocco. He was previously the Director of Insurance & Social Welfare, Ministry of Finance & the Economy, Kingdom of Morocco.

He is a graduate in Finance and Actuarial Science. He is in charge of insurance supervision.

He also served as CEO of a major finance conglomerate in Morocco. Apart from his many board positions, he is an Executive Committee member of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS).

Vice Chairman and Member of the Human Resources and Remuneration Committee

Mr Jaime is the current President of the Angolan insurance regulatory authority (ARSEG).

He has also occupied the following positions in Angola: Deputy Prime Minister, Governor of the Central Bank, Minister of Finance, President of the Angolan Agency for Private Investment (ANIP), First President of the Angolan Investment Bank – Banco Angolano de Investimento (BAI), Director of the Foreign Investment Board (FIB), and Director of Planning, Studies and Statistics of the Angolan National Insurance Company.

He holds a Bachelor‘s Degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, a Law Degree from Agostinho Neto University, a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Arts from the University College of London.

He is presently an MBA Professor at the Angolan Catholic University, Catholic University of Oporto and Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. 

Director and Chairman of the Audit and Finance Committee

Dr. Maait is currently the Minister of Finance of the Arab Republic of Egypt

He has a first degree in Insurance and Mathematics, M.Phil in Insurance, MSc and PhD in Actuarial Science. He is presently a visiting lecturer in different universities in Egypt, chairman of Egyptian GAD, member of several government committees and Board member of several companies in Egypt.

Mr Boubacar BAH is currently the Director of Insurance at the Central Bank of the Republic of Guinea.

He holds a Master’s degree in Law ( option business) in 1986, from the University of Dakar in Senegal ; a post graduate degree in economic development and planning in Dakar, Senegal and a post graduate certificate in industrial development in Dakar, Senegal. He also hold a post graduate certificate of the Center of economics, financial and banking studies in Paris, France.

He has over 30 years of experience in the Central Bank of Guinea where he served at various managerial capacities including, director of human resources; Director of the banking sector; Inspector of the banking sector, Head of legal department, etc.

Mr Boubacar Bah has once worked in a law firm in Dakar, Senegal.

Mr Marami is currently the Director of Insurance and member of the Insurance Supervisory Commission of the Ministry of Finance of Algeria.

He is a licensed insurer and holds degrees in Economics

and Finance. Mr Marami equally has a postgraduate degree in insurance (diplôme de 3ème cycle).

Director and Member of the Risk Management & IT Governance Committee

Mr. Andriambahiny is the current Chairman of the Committee of Insurance Companies in Madagascar (CEAM) and Managing Director of Compagnie Assurances Réassurances Omnibranches ARO – Madagascar

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economic and Social Administration from Maine University in France, a Diplôme Universitaire de Technologie (DUT) in Business Management and Administration from the University Institute of Technology (IUT) in Maine; a Diplôme d’Etudes Universitaires Générales (DEUG) in Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science from Maine University. He is also a holder of a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), a postgraduate Degree in Accounts and Finance (DESCF) and a Maîtrise in Accounts and Finance.

He has served on the Boards of several institutions such as Financière d’Investissement ARO (FIARO), Brasseries STAR Madagascar, Société Nationale de Participation (SONAPAR), SOLIDIS, NCA Re, etc.

Mr. Coenraad Christian Vrolijk is currently Allianz’s Regional CEO Africa. He manages Allianz’ business across 17 countries in Africa . He spearheads Allianz ’strategy in the continent and represents the company in discussions for partnership, JVs and M&A in the continent. He also represents Allianz at the board of BIMA (Milvik).

He holds a PhD. in economics, Master’s degree in economics from Brown University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Bath in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Coenraad Christian Vrolijk had gathered a wealth of experience while working at various capacities across the world. This includes The International baccalaureate Organisation in Switzerland where he was at the board of governors as the chairman of the Finance committee; Rosewood Insurance group in Switzerland where he was the CEO; Black Rock in London, UK where he was the managing Director; McKinsey & Company in Switzerland where he was a partner; International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington DC, USA where he was a research economist.

Mr Coenraad Vrolijk was also a lecturer in intermediate micro-economics in Brown University in United States of America.

Hassan El-Shabrawishi is currently the CEO / Strategic Development Officer for African business at AXA. He is also the chairman of AXA Egypt, AXA Algeria, Microensure and AXA Africa Speciality Risk, and board member of AXA Morocco, AXA Senegal, AXA Cote D’Ivoire, AXA Cameroon, AXA Gabon and AXA Mansard in Nigeria.

He holds an honours degree in Finance and Econometrics from Richmond University in the United Kingdom and an international MBA from IE Business School in Spain. He is a certified director from the National Association of Corporate Directors in the United State of America.

Mr Hassan El-Shabrawishi joined AXA in 2010 as a Business Transformation Leader, he was previously the Group Chief Innovation Officer and the assistant to the deputy CEO of AXA Group. He founded AXA in Egypt and was its Chief Executive Officer.

Before joining AXA, he held several positions in the insurance sector and at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group

Mr Jean CLOUTIER is currently Chairman of Fairfax International, Executive Committee Member of Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited and Vice President of International Operations. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science from Laval University, Quebec City. He is a fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) and Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), fellow of the Singapore Actuarial Society and fellow of the Society of Actuaries of Thailand.

Director and Member of the Risk Management and Information Governance Committee

Mr. Alhaji Mohammed Kari, Dip. Ins. (ABU) ACII MBA (London) has been the Chief Executive Officer of National Insurance Commission since July 31, 2015. Mr. Kari served as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Unity Kapital Assurance Plc. Mr. Kari started his working career with Royal Exchange Assurance Plc in 1979. He worked in Yankari Insurance Company Limited as Assistant General Manager (Technical) from 1984 to 1989. He joined Niger Insurance Plc in 1989 as Executive Director Technical for almost three years. He served as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Reinsurance Corporation from January 1992 to March 1993. He served as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NICON Insurance Corporation from March 1993 to January 2000. 

He is on the Board of many successful companies. He served as Director of Unity Kapital Assurance Plc. He was for two consecutive terms President and Chairman of Council of West Africa Insurance Companies and also Vice Chairman for two consecutive sessions of United Nation Committee on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). He is an insurance graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute London. He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (Information Management) from University of Central England Birminghan, UK and IT Management certified professional from Learning Tree Management Institute, London UK.
