Africa Re hereby announces the vacancy for the position of Manager, Claims in the Cairo (Egypt) Regional Office at the Professional Staff category.
Reporting directly to the Regional Director for Cairo Region, the Claims Manager will ensure that all claims’ services are handled professionally, ethically, efficiently and in accordance with the Corporation’s policies, guidelines and Claims Manual.
Under the direct supervision of the Regional Director, the incumbent will:
1. Claims Management
• Manage the timely, accurate and professional assessment, processing and settlement of valid claims in accordance with reinsurance contracts, treaty terms, policies and the Claims Manual.
• Review claims documentation, coverage, loss calculations, the Corporation’s share, reserves and payments, and ensure accurate recording in SICS.
2. Claims Review and Resolution
• Identify and resolve coverage gaps, deviations, complex and disputed claims, referring matters requiring approval or management intervention to the appropriate authority.
• Prepare claim summaries and supporting documents for approval in accordance with the Claims Approval Matrix and applicable guidelines.
3. Reserves and Recoveries
• Ensure adequate and regularly updated claims reserves, including proportional treaty reserves, based on claims information, bordereaux and loss adjusters’ reports.
• Monitor and follow up reinstatement premiums, salvage, subrogation, litigation, retro pool and other claims recoveries, including major loss adjuster appointments where required.
4. Claims Reconciliation and Cash Calls
• Ensure timely resolution of claims reconciliations with cedants and brokers and support Finance and Technical Accounts on claims-related reconciliations.
• Manage cash-call claims, payments and refunds and ensure timely coordination with Finance and Technical Accounts.
5. Claims Data, Analytics and Reporting
• Maintain accurate claims data, records and statistics and ensure consistency between claims documentation, systems and transactions.
• Analyse claims trends and loss-making portfolios and provide timely reports, statistics and recommendations to Management, underwriters and Head Office.
6. Compliance, Audit and Process Improvement
• Ensure compliance with claims policies, procedures and guidelines; respond to audit and technical inspection queries and implement agreed corrective actions.
• Recommend improvements to claims processes, controls and efficiency.
7. Stakeholder Management and Technical Support
• Maintain effective relationships with cedants, brokers, loss adjusters, lawyers, forensic experts and other stakeholders, including attending relevant client meetings.
• Provide claims-related training, advice and technical support to staff and clients and promote the Corporation’s reputation and commitment to its obligations.
8. Team Management and Other Duties
• Supervise, coach and evaluate the Claims Support Team and monitor performance against agreed KPIs.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Corporation, Regional Director or Management.
The successful candidate shall be based in Cairo (Egypt).

Applicants shall be holders of:
• First University Degree in relevant fields plus full Insurance/Reinsurance/Actuarial Professional Qualification, plus 10 years post qualification relevant qualitative work experience with emphasis on reinsurance underwriting (both treaty and Facultative); reinsurance pricing; claims management, risk survey and assessment.

• First University Degree in relevant field plus 13 years post qualification relevant qualitative work experience with emphasis on reinsurance underwriting (both treaty and Facultative); reinsurance pricing; claims management, risk survey and assessment
• Relevant work experience in a reputable Insurance/Reinsurance organization at a similar level is required.
• Relevant professional qualifications will be an added advantage.
• Ability and knowledge of AI in Insurance and Reinsurance will also be an added advantage
