ADVERTISED JOB POSITION

Africa Re hereby announces the vacancy for the position of Assistant Accounting Officer – Credit Control in the Cairo (Egypt) Regional Office at the Support Staff category.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance & Administration, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining prompt collection of premium income through maintenance of up-to-date statements of accounts for allocated market. Provide support to Technical Accounts & Claims Unit to facilitate prompt reconciliation of balances.

DUTIES/JOB DETAILS

The duties of the Assistant Accounts Officer – Credit Control will comprise amongst others:

• Periodic (monthly) reconciliation of statements of accounts with ceding companies and brokers in the allocated market.

• Liaise with Technical Accounts and Claims Unit in ensuring all outstanding reconciling items are resolved timeously.

• Close follow up with ceding companies and brokers in the allocated market for settlement of outstanding balances

• Timely processing of receipts to the correct ceding companies/brokers accounts.

• Prompt cash-matching (allocation) of all receipts and payments.

• Maintain up to date contact details of all relevant personnel in all ceding companies and brokers in the allocated market.

• Provide up to date status of balances for Underwriters during market visit.

• Perform other related duties as assigned

• Prepare periodic aging analysis of receivables and flag overdue accounts.

• Generate monthly credit control reports for management review.

• Support internal and external audits by providing reconciliations and documentation.

• Track and report on collection efficiency and trends across assigned markets

• Monitor credit limits and payment terms for ceding companies and brokers.

• Escalate high-risk or persistently overdue accounts to senior management.

• Ensure compliance with internal credit control policies and regulatory standards.

The successful candidate shall be based in Cairo (Egypt).

MAIN COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION

• Good knowledge of re/insurance accounting.

• Computer literacy with good interactive knowledge of financial and insurance applications as well as other Microsoft Office Packages.

• Fluent in English and Arabic with working knowledge of French. Proficiency in all three languages is an added advantage.

• Proficient in business software tools – word, excel and basic reporting systems.

• Behavioral competencies required include – self-motivating, discipline, punctuality, reliability, team spirit, good analytical skill and interpersonal relationship

Academic Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Applicants shall be holders of:

• Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management, Economics, Commerce or any related discipline

• Minimum of three (3) years post-graduation experience in similar roles preferably in the reinsurance industry, insurance industry, financial services sector.

• Relevant working exposure in a multicultural environment for at least two (2) years in the African and Middle East context.

• Experience in the reinsurance / insurance Industry is necessary.

• Applicants must also be:

• Proficient in Arabic as a native language.

• Fluent in either of the two working languages of the Corporation (French or English), with good knowledge of both being an added advantage.

• Nationals of member States of Africa Re.

Salary & Benefits

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The successful candidate shall have the following benefits:

• Competitive Basic Salary on the Corporation’s Support Staff Grade Levels

• Variable pay (Annual Performance Bonus)

• Joint contribution to the Provident Fund (7% of the basic salary paid by staff and 14% by the employer)

• Children education subsidy for each child up to 26 years (maximum 4 children)

• Medical cover for staff and dependents.

• Housing Allowance

• Inflation Adjustment Allowance may increase or decrease depending on the economic situation.
