KEN Aghoghovbia – Regional Director, West Africa

Mr. Aghoghovbia holds a Bachelors degree in Insurance (BSc) and a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA). He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII), London.

He has over two decades experience in the insurance industry, having had a brief stint with Nelson Insurance Brokers before settling with Africa Re. He held several managerial positions in Africa Re and was the Director of West Africa & Special Risks Department until his current appointment as Regional Director following the upgrade of that Department to a Regional office.

Mr. Aghoghovbia has attended many international courses. He has also delivered several papers within and outside the African continent, a few of which are listed below:

• “Reinsurance Claims Administration": Presented in Khartoum to the Sudanese market, May 2002;

• “The Importance of Regional Reinsurance Markets to the Energy Industry”: Presented at a forum organised by HSBC, in June 2007, at Lloyds, London, this comprised delegates from mainly Africa, Middle East and Asia;

• “Africa Re and the African Energy Insurance Market”: Presented at an Energy Workshop organised by Willis Group in Beijing, China, March 2008

Abdel Nasser Abdel Aziz Mahmoud - Assistant Director, U/W & Marketing

Mr. Abdel Nasser A. Mahmoud holds a Bachelors degree in Commerce and a Post Graduate Diploma in General Insurance. He is also an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII), London. He has over 18 years experience spanning Egypt Re as Treaty & Facultative Manager and Africa Re as Senior Underwriter before his recent promotion to the level of Assistant Director, Underwriting & Marketing.

Mr. Mahmoud has attended many local and foreign courses in Insurance and Reinsurance and has a good grasp of the job.

Moussa Bakayoko – Assistant Director, Finance & Accounts

Moussa Bakayoko is a graduate of Economics and a Masters Degree holder in Accounting and Finance from the University of Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

He started his career about 2 decades ago as an Audit Trainee with Uniconseil and later moved on to La Protection Ivoirienne as Chief Accountant. He also worked with Unipaci and Chronopost International as Admin & Accounting Manager and Admin & Financial Manager respectively. He joined Africa Re as Financial Controller before his recent appointment as Assistant Director, Finance & Accounts.

Funmi O. Omokhodion (Mrs) – Senior Underwriter

Funmi Omokhodion is a Linguistics graduate trained from the University of Ilorin, and holds Masters Degree in Business Admin (MBA Insurance). She is also an Associate member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), London.

Her career life, which spans over two decades, began with Africa Re where she rose to the present position of Senior Underwriter, with effect from July 1, 2008. She has attended several courses within and outside the country.

Paul Ehichoya Atiomo – Senior Underwriter

Mr. Paul E. Atiomo is a University of Lagos trained Insurance practitioner and an Associate member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), London.

His insurance career began in 1990 with NICON Insurance as a graduate Trainee. He also worked with Alliance & General Insurance, Niger and Aiico before joining Africa Re in 2006 as Oil Underwriter.

With the recent promotion Mr. Atiomo is now Senior Underwriter, West Africa Regional Office.

Francis Ooko Opondoh – Life Reinsurance Underwriter

Francis Opondoh holds a B. Sc in Mathematics/Statistics and Masters in Actuarial Science from Nairobi University, Kenya. He is also an Associate Member of The Actuarial Society of Kenya (TASK), Student Member, Faculty of Actuaries and the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), London.

He has 17 years post 1st degree working experience in both general insurance and life assurance and has worked with Nairobi University as Admin Assistant and later Assistant Life Manager with Kenya Re, before joining Africa Re as Life Underwriter.

Temitope Akinowa (Mrs) – Assistant Oil Underwriter

Temitope Akinowa holds Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA Marketing) and is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN).

Her career started with Cornerstone Insurance where she spent 8 years as Underwriter/Marketer and later became the Head of the Oil & Gas Unit until her recent appointment as Assistant Oil Underwriter with the Corporation.
